This is a beautifully told human story, full of loss and the bitter pain of hope that is often glazed over. I am so intrigued by this character, her past and what landed her in this position, and what the future holds.
This show is beautifully written and acted - Nerys has poured herself into it and you can tell. Expect a lot of feelings! But if sincerity is your thing, you'll love Seren.
So it's still early in this series, but so far the storytelling has been on point! Each episode gets stronger and stronger. Also more enjoyable, but there was a correlation there.
Love the show, fantastic writing and acting! Binged it all in one sitting and I'm on tenterhooks for the next episode!
Seren is a fantastic experience. Minimalist and emotional, Nerys has done an amazing job in bringing both her character and world to life. I cannot wait to hear what happens next in this series, and to find out what Nerys does next!
A podcast when how terrifying space is is finally addressed. Proof you don't need fancy equipment or long monologues to deliver a good narration. Seren is so human it hurts and in some moments it had metaphorically punched me in the guts. And it has been only two episodes. It made me want to know all her story!
This story is both extremely beautiful and very cruel. The reasons for Serens departure from Lux are many, but all very painful for her to remember. It´s disturbing on many levels, and can easily find resonance in todays world.Seren reminds me of the insecurity, the hope, the longing and the choices I didn´t have control over in my 20'ies. The writing and acting is heartbraking but despite it all I´m really hoping for a happy ending for Seren.
An incredibly intimate story set in the vast of space. Seren is bold yet subtle, bleak yet hopeful, incredibly lonely yet inspiring immediate connection with the protagonist. The design, production, acting, and writing are all gorgeous, paced beautifully, and deeply felt. This is a show that always feels like it is barreling towards something but isn't afraid to let you live with Seren for a bit, feel what she's feeling, breathe with her, care for her, become her for a moment--it's an incredibly cathartic show in so many ways.
An interesting concept and a great main actor. Really looking forward to more
A lovely one-hander in space - with a twist! It is a woman in the black. I am really looking forward to her journey.
Do you know what's great about this podcast? Everything. The elements of single narrative work so well for the story being told and it just makes you want to know more about every part of her world. Only a few more episodes to go and I cannot wait to see how it's going to end.
Each episode is heartbreaking and deeply touching, while the story and worldbuilding are first-rate as well. Don't miss Seren's emotional journey, but be sure to bring some tissues. <3
Seren has been one of the podcast highlights of 2020 so far. Beautifully written and performed by Nerys Howell, it tells a very human story against a sci fi background. Like all good sci fi, parallels are drawn with present day concerns and topics and you'll find plenty to recognise in Seren. You can listen on several levels and go as deeply as you like into the story and its meanings but at the end of the day Seren is a good story, well told.
A raw nerve of an audio drama, the character of Seren wears her heart on her sleeve which makes the listener invest so much more in the mystery of her involuntary journey alone through space. Really well paced with episodes at the perfect length for the storytelling. Can’t wait to see how season 1 ends.
A wonderfully sad show that isn't afraid to punch you right in the gut. The audio quality could be better in parts due to some white noise and hiss issues but that does improve over the course of the show, so just hang in there sensitive eared listeners. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by how emotionally involved and invested I became with this show and I think it is worth a listen for sure.
My heart aches every episode for poor unfortunate Seren and her awful experiences at the hands of the High Council. Nerys is telling a really powerful and I'm fascinated at how it will end. I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for what comes next.
This show captured our hearts right out of the gate and it has continued to deliver! Truly touching and captivating!
Smart, well thought out, great character dynamics - go on! Jump aboard!
This podcast hurt me in places I didn't know were already crying out - just really good storytelling.
Well-performed story that provides an introspective look at being an outsider as the main character is banished from society and forced into isolation with only an uncaring AI for company for failing to perform her societal role. Ends on a hopeful note. Short episodes make this a quick listen.
