Apparently this is a popular subreddit. The podcast is not very interesting, though. It's mostly stories of people who have seen someone else they thought might be creepy.
This show is a treat! Andrew really nails the whole “scary stories around a camp fire” mood. He makes an effort to narrate unsettling interactions in such a way that they are engaging, interesting and honestly creepy! I listen to most podcasts right before bed and this show is one of the few that actually keep me awake, alert, and hidden underneath the blankets with a flashlight and my finger on 911...
I used to enjoy this podcast. I would have given it a 4/5 if it wasn’t for 1. It’s declining content and 2. The incessant gambling ads. Not only are they loud and 4-5 at a time, but they are often repeats. It’s enough to drive you crazy. Some of these stories, as of late, are really uninteresting and seem to be a bit melodramatic and paranoid. I realize this is just my opinion, but isn’t that what a review is for? Also, as someone who advocates for addicts, I find these ads (especially so many in a repetitive way) as some sort of sneaky influence. It’s pounded into your head. It should be illegal. Honestly, if this host is as kind and caring as he seems, he would care about this. My last point is his voice. The cadence of the host’s voice is really odd. Sometimes it’s hard to listen to for a long period of time. It’s like he’s trying too hard? This isn’t to be rude. Just personal preference.
Brutal. And I said so as a paying subscriber. So he booted me out. Hearing about ridiculous stories that are not horror *your freaking title lol*, is so boring. Dude, learn from our comments, don't throw people out because you've been rejected. Grow up. Our listener comments give you a JOB. You left a job for this. The "real" stories often times ooze shoddy amateur writing to the point of absolutely breaking the last bit of immersion one might have. The host and narrator is sadly not very good at reading aloud and you will hear him mistakenly end sentences too early in nearly every single story on the show.
Very interesting podcast that shares real events that people have had happen to them as the audio sounds so real!
Not a fan. Stories often have a classist/ableist undercurrent (eg recent Mother's Day episode) and a pro-policing undercurrent. No criticality/awareness of the inequities of the criminal justice system; stories seem to be written largely for and by politically conservative/moderate white women and interested in maintaining the status quo.
Always an interesting story on here, love it.
Scary and always entertaining. Consistently well curated stories.
I unfollowed this podcast today. I can't take the dry delivery anymore. Another issue that really, really bothers me is that this man is telling the stories of many women who have been assaulted or just barely escaped assault. He does it in this monotone manner that just kills the story and the feeling I imagine the original narrator intended to impart. His clear, bored, emotionless delivery normalizes the violence it describes. He never acknowledges this. It is irresponsible and results in a seriously dull podcast.
Good concept but the guy will literally pick the same old “Some creepy guy looked at me today” stories over and over again and will feature them in throwbacks as equal to the stories where people interacted with literal murderers.
I love this podcast! Andrew Tate does a brilliant job of authentically telling user-submitted stories, some of which cover very dark subjects. His cadence is almost soothing! His guest narrators are always awesome too.
Great to listen to with my 11 year old and talk about how to be careful. Think its making us both more street smart.
This used to be a really good podcast but now its just a one-trick pony of female assault victim stories. Its one thing to raise awareness, quite another to move into victim pr0n territory. Sexual assault/harassment is horrifying but its presentation on this podcast is cartoonish due to the format. Additionally, "old guy looked at me" stories just aren't entertaining.
