This is one of the podcasts I look forward to every week. Waking up Monday morning to see what guest is on the agenda is always exciting. And even if I don't immediately recognize the name of the guest, I still know it will be an amazing colossal conversation with some wonderful stories from decades past. Plus, listening to Gilbert sing every now and then deserves all the stars!
One of my very favorites. Great and hilarious interviews with old-time celebrities about their careers (or like-minded old-Hollywood nerds about their shared obsession). I can't count the times I've thought "I'm not sure I want to hear an interview with that person" and wound up LOVING the episode. (Rupert Holmes, consider this an apology!)
A great show.
If you're a GF fan, you'll dig every episode, if you're not a fan pick and choose depending on his guest, because there is A LOT of Gilbert in every ep. I have found myself laughing out loud through some eps and skipping through others, it really depends on if Gilbert can really connect & riff with a particular guest or not. His co-host is a big help in steering the ship.
A love letter to golden age of TV and movies. If you love comedy, classic TV and movies, and one-hit wonders then this is the podcast for you. Frank Santopadre does an amazing job with research and prep for the guests, and Gilbert's encyclopedic knowledge of entertainment is astonishing.
I didn’t like Gilbert Gottfried growing up. Now it wasn’t for the same reasons my parents disliked him- they found him to be loud and obnoxious. I didn’t…I just didn’t understand his jokes about 1940’s films, character actors, and riffing on “why Castle Frankenstein specifically had a lever installed to blow up the castle?” Growing up, getting into films- when I listen now to Gilbert Gottfried & Frank Santopadre talking about old TV, movies and interviewing the great character actors, comedians and personalities of the past “I get it.” Who doesn’t want to hear interesting stories from Dick Cavett talking about hanging out with Groucho Marx? Breaking down urban legends about Caesar Romero and orange wedges (although some claim it was tangerines)? And were would we be without a great story involving the drunken antics of Paul Lynde on Hollywood Squares? This is a podcast for every film and pop culture lover…they just don’t know it yet. Gil & Frank- we salute you.
