Chris values detail and the human experience in his podcast telling, and it makes his show a gem. He's a delight to listen to.
AGE OF VICTORIA PODCASTThank you! I love your show too, and I'm so glad you enjoy the human element of my show. I try hard to bring the people to life so that their real stories shine through.
This is a splendidly researched and excellently produced show. It presents and contextualizes the most important people, events, and inventions during the Victorian era! Great history that is well presented and diligently researched!
It's a top-notch history podcast. If you're interested at all in the nineteenth century and appreciate careful research, it's a must-listen. There are dozens and dozens of topics to dip into. Just choose one that interests you and listen away!
The cadence of the host is just rather stilted. It makes it hard for me to get any information out of what he is saying.
I enjoy the unhurried, detail-oriented writing of this podcast. If you want a finely textured sense of what it might have felt like to live in Victorian Britain, this show is hard to beat. It covers a surprisingly wide array of topics--from the class system, to fashion, to Christmas rituals--in a clever and entirely unpretentious manner. The episodes are long, but they seem to drop only once a month, so you have plenty of time to finish before the next one appears in your feed. All of the host's effort goes into the research and writing--not bells and whistles--and it shows. It's a truly unique example of the history podcast genre and one that I always recommend highly to friends.
