RATING
This show reeks of quality, from the music, through the sound design and the fantastically effortless acting from the cast playing multiple roles with ease and aplomb. Lawrence Owen's music so perfectly captures the feel of the themes of Alton Towers or other British attractions that it sets your mind straight into the relevant headspace. Lyndsay Sharman's script is tight, witty beautifully paced to make you strap in for this roller coaster ride of a story. Do yourself a favour and listen.
AMAZING! From start to finish, Mockery Manor is one of the most professional indie pods you will come across. The acting is superb, particularly given how many characters each cast member voices. The story is a joy and the writing is great - even the songs are hilarious. Last, but definitely not least, is the sound design - this is one of the best sounding shows you will hear and it often leaves me wondering just how they did that. After a stellar first season, the show shows no sign on 2nd season nerves and each new release continues to be a highlight of the week. You really won't regret listening.
This complete package seemed to burst out of nowhere for me. the production is immaculate - thrusting us into secrets and spectaculars of a bizarre theme park. Seems like a two-person team for the most part, and the work being put into this must be immense. Amazing songs too. #AnnoyingTalent
Fantastic production and aesthetic. The in-house pop songs are a total highlight! Wacky, funny intriguing and fantastic production from this talented team.
If you are a long-time podcast lover and tired of standard podcast settings this podcast is just for you!Bloody hell, the theme park sound landscape is created with such scrutiny! Every carousel, every park attraction sounds different and has a unique appeal! In some cases, it's also connected with the main plot. Most of the characters are unlucky 18-19 years old teenagers who decided to have summer jobs in a creepy theme park. The story is half young adult misfortunes, half horror movie slasher, half detective and half family drama. Season 1 really got me with strong storytelling, excellent sound design and dark British humor!
I've been a fan of this show since the first minute I heard it. It's got a bit of everything you could wish for; great story, excellent acting, super convincing sound design and wonderful music! It's such a joy to see great storytelling no matter what the medium and you guys continue to smash it out the (theme) park!
I mean, come on, it doesn't get any better than this show. Humor, heart, some great scares. I love the world and the characters so dearly.
Trousers meowsers! Mockery Manor is quickly becoming a fan favourite and genre-defining piece of narrative podcast fiction. The standout voice cast, scripting and sound design completely immerse you in the world of the Manor. Every episode leaves you wanting more as the story develops and the mystery unfolds. I’m sure there’ll be many more seasons of this fantastic podcast, so catch up while you can - you won’t regret it!
Mockery Manor - No Spoilers! This podcast is a mystery fiction from the UK about two twin sisters, JJ and Bette, starting their first summer jobs at the Mockery Manor Amusement Park in 1989. The two try to make the best of it while enduring pretty intense family trauma and all the drama that comes with living and working with a group of other teens. The rocky start is made even more complicated when a series of mysterious deaths occur leading the sisters to a sinister secret within park. Written by Lindsay Sharman and produced by Long Cat Media, the comedic indie pod from 2019 is professional sounding production. So much so it was nominated in the Best Fiction Podcast category of the British Podcast Awards. One of my favorite things about it was how well the show handled suspense; carefully given information away but not dragging the episode count out is the sign of well done pod. The network's other shows include Madame Magenta and The Ballad of Anne & Mary which is a musical. Both of which are well regarded. Apple Podcasts has a fitting 5 stars for the show with 97 ratings and 19 written reviews. The first 11 part season ended in fall of 2020 without any cliffhangers but a second is confirmed to be in works. Each episode was about 21 minutes long and the voice actors were extremely talented. Songs, theme songs and themed commercials were a little much for my ears but I just skip through them. I didn't think they present enough to consider this a musical podcast but for those who enjoyed them creators have assembled them all into a combined playlist which can be found in a bonus episode. Trigger warnings for murder.Similar Pods: The Milkman of St. Gaff's, Rockfish Gap, and Soft VoiceMore reviews on insta: themastercast, twitter: mastercastpods
Trousers Meowsers! From the first trailer I knew that this was my jam and it has yet to let me down. The characters are magnificent and the story being told has so many twists and surprises that I honestly don't think I'll see any of them coming and that is very exciting indeed. Genuinely can't wait for all that is to come.
Delightfully absurd. At turns horrifying, funny, satirical, and romantic, pushing audio craft boundaries. Gen-X and neo-absurdists rejoice; this is your show. Bonus good times, the band Foucault’s Pendulum is more peak Smiths than The Smiths at their peak.
My favourite drama podcast by a mile! A gripping story that I have listened to again countless times. It is the perfect combination of music and creative writing. I can not recommend this podcast enough to anyone who likes drama stories or detective tv shows. Some very subtle Disney references for any super fans out there. Thank you Longcat media, I love ALL your podcasts!
Such a brilliant podcast - atmospheric and engaging, draws you in with fantastic characters and a twisting storyline, extra points for brilliant original songs - just love every minute of it!
This show is a new find for me, and I'm so happy I jumped in! It's such an immersive, gripping, vivid world and there is so much love in it. The soundtrack alone is worth listening for--seriously, ever song is a BOP! It's got 80s nostalgia, theme park gothic vibes, and a really fun old school murder mystery, truly what's not to love? Seriously, what are you waiting for, it's awesome!
This is a terrific show. The concept - sinister going’s on at a quintessentially British amusement park in the 80s - works thanks not only to the terrific production design and performances but the grounding of the characters in reality - despite all the effectively creepy, perhaps supernatural shenanigans, JJ and the rest feel like real people with real problems, and that’s what anchors me as a listener. Been slow-dripping this show so as not to run out of episodes too soon, but up to date now and can’t wait for the next! Also - bloody funny. Laughed out loud in the milk aisle at Sainsbury’s the other day at a particularly wonderful delivery of the word ‘arse.’
Gave up after 7 episodes into the first season.I don't get it. At first it seems to be a satire. Then the story got more serious, by which time I stop caring as I never did warm up to the characters.Good production quality. Not much else I would recommend this for.
So fantastic! Great balance of comedy and intrigue, with fantastic characters. Lindsay, Hayley and Laurence are voice acting legends, playing multiple parts with unique accents for each character. Smashingly good.
I feel more confident that this site isn't used to determine their future (like apple or Spotify) so while I recommend and look forward to season 3; I have listen to other shows with slightly stronger dialog during some of the dramatic scenes. I probably wouldn't listen from the beginning again but I enjoyed the over all theme/plot of the podcast and I look forward to season 3. I enjoyed the new ideas and themes mentioned in season 2, and wished they were explored a bit more. Like more flashbacks with Jinkins and how what role he exactly played.
This show is a joy to listen to. Which is an odd thing to say about a murder mystery, I know! Exquisitely produced. Incredibly well-acted. And just the right amount of absurdity.
Mockery Manor is a funny podcast with excellent acting, sound design, writing, and a terrific score to top it all off.
