Dr. Jim Patton from the UT Austin Department of Special Education tells us how a Universal Design for Learning approach leads him to leverage teaching strategies that can accommodate the special needs of some students, but these same strategies can be useful to other learners. Using specific examples taken from his large-format Applied Learning and Development course, Dr. Patton groups these techniques into three categories - access, expression, and engagement.
